Raxis Engineering was selected to be on a team of engineering firms working on renovations to several of the buildings at this school. Specifically, Raxis was contracted to handle the plumbing designs related to the other disciplines, as well as redesigning domestic water/sewer for renovated buildings. The campus’ main office building, gymnasium, JROTC building, library, fine arts wing, and several classroom buildings were part of this scope. The plumbing scope included mainly restrooms renovations, laboratories, gym showers, janitor closets, several electric water coolers throughout the school and condensate and gas services for air conditioning replacements and upgrades. One of the main challenges in this project was the coordination between different disciplines to ensure all items in the scope of work were met. In addition, the Ysleta ISD guidelines had specific requirements for the laboratories to include separate acid drain lines and neutralization tanks, emergency showers/eyewash stations and utility boxes to isolate all plumbing services in emergency situations.
